Mosiah 7

It is ironic I should read this today, after our fast yesterday.  This is the story of how Ammon and his small band leave Zarahemla trying to find the people of Zeniff in the land of their fathers. The group wanders for 40 days and then finds their city.  The people of Limhi  imprison them for two days before Limhi (the king) talks to them.  When Limhi finds out who they are, he is SO excited and calls the people together . Limhi suddenly has hope that they can now escape their bondage.  He tells the people to trust in God, and then he shares all the other ways in which the lord has delivered his people.  Moses and the children of Isreal came across the Red Sea on dry ground, Lehi's family was preserved in the wilderness. (it made me think of all the other prophets that we know about that the Lord has delivered at some point).
He says that iniquity is what has brought them to this point, the were over zealous, greedy, and were deceived, and therefore taken into bondage.  Then they also killed the prophets and ignored what they were saying.  He laments all the lives wasted and the blood spilt in vain.  He says the Lord will not succor his people in the day of their transgression, but will headge up their way, so that it will become a stumbling block.  But the verse I like the most in this chapter, is verse 33.  He promises us that if we will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, putting our trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, he will at his own time, deliver us out of bondage.
That is the very same answer I got yesterday.  Serve More, with more purpose of heart.  Willingly give of your substance, and time and he will deliver us all as well.
Our lot has a similar story.  We were over zealous and we believed the deceit of the world that this would be a great way to get out of debt. We didn't obey the prophet's council of paying down your house first, and the basic financial things he has taught over the years, we thought we new better.  We too wasted time and money on this lot, and regret that.  But if we have hope and faith, the Lord will deliver us, or help us with our plan.
A.C.T.  Pray and ask how the Lord needs my service that day, and then find a way each day this week to willingly serve someone else.
