Mosiah 8

Limhi has told Ammon about a set of 24 gold plates that his people found and brought back from a land full of ruins and many bones. He asks Ammon if he knows someone that can interpret these plates for him.  Ammon shares with him how Mosiah is not only a prophet, but a seer and revelator.  He has been given a special gift (urim and thumin) that can help him interpret.  Ammon defines the priesthood as the Power of God given to man.  When Limhi hears about Mosiah's abiltity he rejoices and is amazed at how the Lord is wonderful and has put in place a prophet and the proper tools to interpret.  He laments how we as people will wander so blindly for so long, and how the Lord allows us to, because even though the Lord has the ability to "Unfold all such mysteries to the children of men" we do not seek his wisdom or "let it rule over us."  This immediatly made me think of our prophet and how we have this incredible BLESSING in our lives, but how often do we take and internalize that wisdom and his power to "speak for God." Do we truly SEEK wisdom?  And then once we have heard it do we "desire that it should not rule over us," meaning do we only apply what is applicable, or we feel is relevant when we WANT to, but not when we don't want to....If we don't listen then Limhi compares us to a wild flock (we have a shepard to keep us safe if we follow his wisdom) that is driven and scattered and devoured by the beasts of the forest, because we did not head our shepard (Prophet)
A.C.T. I will seek out wisdom from the latest talk of General Conference (I will do this instead of my normal reading tomorrow) and apply the wisdom to allow it to rule over me so that I am not as a wild flock devoured by the beasts of the forest.
